Dr. Portia is a contemporary woman of God shaped in the image and the witness of Queen Esther, a change agent for Christ. She is anointed with a unique inspirational gift in preaching and teaching. As a compassionate Minister of the Gospel, Dr. Portia is a woman of God blessed with the gift and anointing to heal the broken in heart, the broken in spirit, and the broken in body.
Dr. Portia served as a Senior and Founding Pastor of Trinity Tabernacle Baptist Church in the Metropolitan Atlanta area for more than twenty years. As a Pastor, counselor, missionary, and community leader, Dr. Portia maintains the posture and presence to be a conduit through which the community can have access to God’s power, truth, love and Word.
Dr. Portia also served as a Dean/Coordinator for the Richardson Ecumenical Fellowship at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta.
Currently, she serves as the President of Dr. Portia Ministries. It is a ministry dedicated to empowering, inspiring, especially women, to be all God has called them to be. The ministry also includes teaching, preaching, counseling, civil meditation, military endorsements, Millennial activities, and more as led by God.
A strong academician, Dr. Portia is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She matriculated from the Interdenominational Theological Center of Atlanta, GA, with a Masters of Divinity and a Doctorate In Ministry degrees. Dr. Portia believes, “in ministry, you have to remain teachable, to teach others."
An international evangelist and speaker, Dr. Portia has served as an international delegate to Western and Southern Africa, Guyana, South America and countries in Europe and the West Indies.
As an author, she has contributed to such publications as Those Preaching Women, The African American Pulpit, The African American Preaching Library and Blow The Trumpet In Zion. She successfully published her book in 2015 – "The Essence of Hope." She is currently in the final stages of completing her book based on her dissertation thesis, “A Change Agent In Stilettos: A Personal Narrative of A Female Change Agent.”
As a Community Leader and Social Justice Activist, Dr. Portia has served on numerous community and educational boards and currently serves on the Atlanta Beltline Partnership Board. Dr. Lee has been honored with numerous awards and honors for her prophetic leadership in the community.
Finally, Dr. Portia’s greatest joy comes from being a mother to her adult daughter and best friend Nina Yvette Lee, a writer and filmmaker. Throughout her life, Dr. Portia has attested that she believes that God's love is more precious than life itself. As such, she continues to give her whole heart, mind, and body to God as an expression of her devotion and gratitude.
